Jan Wiecha, PhD
I am a psychologist, sexologist, diagnostician, and a cognitive-behavioral therapist in training. I hold a PhD in psychology from the Jagiellonian University, where I also work as an academic lecturer at the Institute of Psychology.
My academic and clinical interests focus on the psychology of close romantic relationships, psychotherapy, sexology, neurodiversity, and behavior analysis. In my doctoral research, supervised by prof. Magdalena Śmieja, I examined the role of the emotion of being moved in romantic relationships, particularly in relation to intimacy, closeness, and relationship satisfaction.
Alongside my academic work, I work therapeutically with adults and couples, including neurodivergent individuals. In my clinical practice, I primarily work within the cognitive-behavioral framework (CBT), integrating elements of schema therapy and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I am also involved in diagnosis and psychoeducation related to autism, ADHD, and AuDHD from a modern, neuroaffirmative perspective.
I am a member of the Polish Dachshund Club, affiliated with the Polish Kennel Club (ZKwP, FCI) as well as the Polish Association for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (PACBT/ PTTPB) named after Prof. Zdzisław Bizoń.
Outside academia and clinical work, I am interested in cinema (especially German Expressionism and the Polish cinema of moral anxiety), electronic and folk music, Neapolitan pizza, functional design, and, admittedly, I have a soft spot for Kuchenne Rewolucje hosted by Magda Gessler.
